When I heard this quote it was like an explosion in my brain. “Act the way you want to feel”- Gretchen Rubin.
“ACT THE WAY YOU WANT TO FEEL.” -Gretchen Rubin”
It’s a simple statement but when put into practice can have a profound impact on your life and happiness… At least it did for me.
Let’s flashback to a couple of weeks ago. It was a Monday morning and I desperately wanted to have a good day. I fought a stomach bug on Sunday and went to bed with a determined attitude. I just knew that tomorrow would be a better day.
But as soon as my feet hit the ground Monday morning, it seemed like anything that could go wrong did. First, I left out a bunch of food I had meal prepped the night before (the only productive thing I did on that Sunday). All my hard work ruined, all that food wasted, and now getting back on track with my diet was going to be harder than anticipated.
Then I jumped in the car and was headed into the office. Half way to town, I realized I had lost the office keys. Which normally wouldn’t be a huge deal, however, I would be the only one at the office that day and I had to be on time to let two people in the door… #facepalm.
I was late for work, I had to call my boss and deliver the bad news, and I couldn’t help but feel like the extra 6 lbs. I had put on in a week an a half was causing my gut to hang over the top of my jeans.
As I was trying to collect myself, this Gretchen Rubin quote came to mind. I decided to try acting the way I wanted to feel. So I did just that. I acted as if everything was fine, which it turned out it would all be fine in the end. In the back of my mind, I also knew I had a meeting with a potential client that afternoon and there was no way I was going to let the morning ruin my entire day.
So, if you are having a tough morning, I encourage you to act the way you want to feel and watch as your day turns around!
